Sometime way back in 1996, I wanted a blanket, so I found a book on quilting, and made one, and then another, and then another. A non-local friend wanted to see pictures of the quilts I've made, and this page was created. This is a gallery of my work, with some information about each piece's creation, purpose, and pattern.

My first quilt, a trip-around-the-world pattern, was made to live in a car. I used various scrap fabrics on the front, and a really soft and warm fabric on the back. It now lives inside, as a lap quilt.

This irish chain quilt was my second attempt at quilting, in the spring of 1997. It's sized for a double bed, and is mostly made of scrap fabric. However, some of the greens ran, and I've discovered that quilting itself isn't really my thing. Aside from that, it lives on my bed and keeps me warm.

In the summer of 1997, I was helping some friends move, and received a semi-long, narrow piece of soft felt-like blue. So I took it and used it as the inside and handles of this bag.

I'm giving up on all pretext of chronological order here. My housemates had a baby on April 7, 1998. As soon as I had time after hearing the initial news, I went out and secretly (a hard thing to do in this house) made a baby quilt, 31"x39". This was made as 12 log cabin squares, each with a large center containing a Paddington Bear picture. The backing is a white children's print flannel. So far, it's been holding up well.

In the summer of 1997, I was invited to too many weddings. For two of them, I made handmade quilted presents. One was a lap quilt that folds up into a pillow. It's a really neat design. The pattern I used was a log cabin, with really neat starry fabric.

For the other wedding, I made a set of 8 matching placemats, and a table runner. I like them, but they were more time-consuming to make than previously expected. These use an Ohio Star pattern.
